Join Liz, Executive Director of Bikemore, and Jenn Aiosa, Executive Director of Blue Water Baltimore for a conversation about transportation advocacy and how Blue Water is supporting transportation bills this year in Maryland's 2021 state legislative session.

Blue Water Baltimore’s mission is to restore the quality of Baltimore’s rivers, streams and Harbor to foster a healthy environment, a strong economy and thriving communities. So how does transit relate to their mission?

Tune in on Facebook to find out. The audience will be able to ask live questions during the session. You can join the Facebook live here.

Transit Safety & Investment Act (HB 114 / SB 199). Both organizations are pushing for the passage of this bill, which would mandate increased funding for the MTA. The Transit Safety & Investment Act would mandate increased state funding for the Maryland Transit Administration, which operates our bus, rail, and subway services in the state. Right now the MTA is nearly $2 billion budget shortfall to maintain a state of good repair. This bill would help with meeting the capital needs to operate the MTA safely and reliably.

Transit Safety & Investment Act Kickoff

transit safety kickoff.jpeg

Join 40 coalition groups with transit supporters throughout Maryland at our virtual kick-off rally to #SaveMarylandTransit! Special guests include Delegates Brooke Lierman and Marc Korman and Senator Cory McCray.

Our goal is to assure the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has sufficient funding so that Marylanders can safely and reliably travel to their destinations -- work, school, shopping, medical appointments, places of worship and more -- every day. MTA currently projects a $2 billion shortfall in funds needed to maintain a state of good repair for MARC trains, buses, subway, light rail and mobility over the next decade. We cannot allow this situation to stand!

An adequately funded MTA will result in safer and reliable public transit service, less traffic congestion and climate pollution, healthier communities, more equitable transit, and access to a wider workforce for Maryland businesses.

Be a part of the effort to #SaveMDTransit by attending our virtual kick-off rally on Jan 19 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm and learning how you can support the Transit Safety & Investment Act sponsored by Delegate Lierman and Senator McCray. Registration is free!
