UPDATE: Registration closes Friday, Nov. 20 @ 6pm.

Cranksgiving is back for 2020! Our annual ride looks different this year - but will be just as fun for you and your friends to participate in. During this scavenger hunt/bike ride/food drive extravaganza, your team will receive a digital manifest, choose your own adventure, and end by bringing food directly to our food partners, the Franciscan Center and Moveable Feast.

Last year we hosted our biggest Cranksgiving in five years with over 200 riders and 60 teams. We celebrated at Charm City Meadworks and donated over 1000 grocery items to our food partners. While we can’t do that this year, we’re excited to have you all participate in a physically distant, inclusive ride.

What's Cranksgiving, you ask?
Cranksgiving is a national event that combines bike riding and giving back. This scavenger hunt/food drive will send teams of riders across the city to collect food items to benefit Moveable Feast and the Franciscan Center. Basically, it's all about food for people in need and riding bikes with friends, new and old.

What does the day look like?

To make Cranksgiving safe during COVID-19, we’re making some accommodations to the event:

  • Staggered start times: You will start off at either 12pm or 1pm, depending on what ride time your team chooses.

  • Digital manifests: At your start time, your team will have the manifest emailed to you.

  • Outdoor stops: We’ve added stops that are outside and have plenty of space for physical distancing. Unlike in previous years, you do not have to enter each grocery store to buy items. Unlike in previous years, your team is not required to buy groceries at each store. You can go to the stops on the manifest in any order, and buy the groceries on the manifest from any grocery stores listed on the manifest.

  • Different end locations: You’ll end your ride at either the Franciscan Center (101 W 23rd St.) or Moveable Feast (901 N Milton Ave), and drop off your food donations directly with the food partner.

  • Virtual awards ceremony/after-party: After you drop off your food, feel free to ride home and join us for the awards ceremony and after-party virtually! We’ll announce winners of Cranksgiving and get a chance to connect with all of the other riders!

How does registration work? Do I need a team?
This year, you will have to register for the event ahead of time online. There is no day-of registration. If you’d like to get a Cranksgiving T-shirt you’ll have to register early bird! For free agents (individual riders without a team), you must register by November 15 - this way you’ll have a week to get matched up with team members.

October 29 - November 8 | Early bird registration - CLOSED
This is the only way to purchase a Cranksgiving t-shirt!

November 8 - November 20 | Online registration
Register ASAP to mark your preference on where and when you want to ride! Registration closes Friday, Nov. 20 @ 6pm.

November 21 | Cranksgiving ride
There is no on-site registration this year. Make sure you pre-register!

Riding is way more fun with friends, so Cranksgiving must be ridden with teams of 3 or 4. Don't have a team? Register as a free agent and we’ll help you find folks to ride with.

How does the scavenger hunt work?
At your start time, all teams will be emailed their manifests. Each member of the team should receive an email with the manifest attached as a document. On the manifest is a list of grocery stores, outdoor checkpoints, and food items to purchase, each worth a certain number of points. The team with the highest number of points, in the shortest amount of time wins! The scavenger hunt ride will begin at either 12pm or 1pm (depending on the start time your team chooses) and only teams who turn in their manifests, receipts and food within 2 hours of their start time will be considered for prizes.

If you aren’t able to make it to drop off food within 2 hours, please still donate your food to us! We’ll be at both food locations until 4pm.

How much does it cost to participate?
By design, Cranksgiving is and will always be a free event — meaning Bikemore will never charge registration to participate. We do ask that each person on a team bring $10-15 to help purchase food items on the list. But how much you are able to spend is entirely up to you!

What should I bring?
- Working bike
- Bag to carry purchases (backpacks, panniers, baskets — whatever you have!)
- $10-15 for purchasing food items for donation
- Bike lock

Is it a race? I don't ride very fast. Will I still have fun?
Kinda. That's Ok! Absolutely! Cranksgiving is designed to be a social team event because what's more fun that riding through the city with some friends and giving back?!

What happens if it rains?
This is a rain or shine event. Show up and ride, even if the weather isn't perfect!

Can’t ride but still want to help?
We need lots of volunteers to make the ride run smoothly! Sign up to volunteer.

OR register as a “At Home” Participant - you’ll make a donation size of your choice that will be split between Moveable Feast and the Franciscan Center.
