**Baltimore's Budget Workshops - Pt. 2: Capital Budget**

Budget Workshops Graphic.png

A budget is a City’s moral document. Where we invest funds today has a significant impact not only on our day to day lives, but can set us up for success for years to come. Long range investment in the things most likely to lead to improved outcomes in public health and safety, sustainability, and economic opportunity are the keys to progress.

To improve access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation, significant investments must be made on both the operating and capital side of our City’s budget.

Join Bikemore, the Bureau of Budget Management and Research, and the Department of Planning in a two-part workshops series to learn about the City's Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program, and how you can participate in it.

This is a two-part series of workshops. You can join for either, or both!

1 - BALTIMORE’S OPERATING BUDGET
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 12, 5:30-6:30PM

The City’s Operating Budget is what dictates how general funds from local taxes are allocated to the City’s different departments and agencies. It funds personnel costs, facility operating costs, city programs and outreach, and more.

2 - BALTIMORE’S CAPITAL BUDGET
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19, 5:30-6:30PM

The City’s Capital Improvement Program is what dictates how funding is allocated to new capital projects - projects that create new infrastructure and improvements to our physical environment. The CIP is a six-year capital investment plan that is revised each year. This is what influences bike infrastructure the most, as it allocates money to different types of transportation infrastructure projects.
