Join us in riding in memory of Michael Hughes.
Riding together and placing a ghost bike is our way of dedicating time and space to remember Michael, bringing our community together to support each other through difficult times, and demonstrating our commitment to continue to fight for streets that are built to keep people safe.
We'll meet at Wyman Park Dell, at the corner of 29th Street and Charles at 4:30pm, and the ride will leave at 5pm. We’ll ride to the 36th and Falls Road where we’ll place his ghost bike. This will be a slow ride less than 2 miles, and all are welcome to join.
On June 17th, Michael Hughes was struck by a pick up truck towing a trailer near the intersection of 36th and Falls Road in Hampden. On June 24th, Michael succumbed to his injuries and passed away. (Baltimore Brew: Hampden bike crash victim, who faced many struggles, recalled as a generous soul)
Our stance has always been to respect the family’s wishes when it comes to how we both discuss and honor the death of someone they cared for deeply, and they are supportive of this memorial ride.
