FILL THE ROOM! The Downtown Bike Network must contain a fully protected east-west connection.

Last year, construction was halted on the Downtown Bike Network due to the Baltimore City Fire Department's interpretation of International Fire Code.

The protected portion of the network would have connected east-west along Centre/Madison/Monument from MLK to Washington.

Baltimore City DOT is now redesigning the network to meet the demands of the Fire Department. 

It's still possible to design an all-ages protected facility and meet the Fire Department's demands along this corridor, but it would require significant redesign and some loss of parking. 

We do not yet know the details of redesign. We'll update you as we learn more. But plan to show up and speak out for a fully protected, all-ages design.
